Biggie was much like Jay in that even though he was a transcendent emcee, his music always sounded very much like what was hot at the time.
RTD was a boom bap album.

Yup. But alot of that had to do with Puff, who was the executive producer on all Biggies projects & obviously the label runner.
RTD was a mix of boom bap AND Chronic/Doggystyle - both which were hot at one time. Its obvious as hell. Cuz alot of RTD were recorded during
the Uptown days which was a time when the boom bap sound officially was the thing. Then, a few songs ie Big Poppa, were straight off that Chronic/Doggystyle smooth flow over funk beats and Biggie rappin about being fly/playa type shyt.
