..I love RTD but the majority of LAD is pure shiny suit commercialness that I can't really rock with. It's way too mainstream radio sounding and I think he was going even more that way.
Somebody's Gotta Die
Kick in the Door
Last Day
I Love the Dough
What's Beef
nikkas Bleed
I Got a Story to Tell
Notorious Thugs
Miss U
Ten Crack Commandments
Sky's the Limit
My Downfall
Long Kiss Goodnight
You're Nobody (Til Somebody Kills You)

I wouldn't really call all these tracks "shiny suit commercialness". Plus it's not like Hypnotize, Mo Money Mo Problems, or Going Back to Cali are pure garbage.

People hate on "LAD" cause the production sound is so crisp. With "RTD" the production is very raw and grimey. Big made 2 Classics for 2 Different Eras of Hip Hop. "RTD" can be placed with all the Boom Bap and Classic 80's style while "LAD" is Classic for this generation as it's clearly the blueprint for Mainstream Rap Albums. Honestly there's only 2-3 songs you could throw rocks at with "LAD" and even then Big still spit fire on them.

He would have been nice on this beat, or really a lot of Kanye beats.

If he dropped in 2000 he might have had Kanye on there, who knows

Biggie was much like Jay in that even though he was a transcendent emcee, his music always sounded very much like what was hot at the time.

RTD was a boom bap album.
LAD was a mafioso album.

Just look at what was hot in 2000 and therein lies your answer.

RTD isn't exactly boom bap, it has some strong g-funk influences. Again, a nod to what was popular in '94

i think he definitely would've rolled with premier, puff would've still been big on samplin' an 80's classics because he was still doin' that shyt at the time so the hitmen would've still been behind the boards, i bet with nikkas like timbaland this time around. maybe dre but dre at the time was consumed with workin' on 2001

Imagine Big on 2001 :wow::wow::wow:
