I’m surprised he used the word ‘sandhills’ which is a slur even there ever was one.

Here's an account of a white slave owner and his observation about poor white southerners - he calls them "Ragtag and Bobtail" and "Sandhillers".

Excellent, aggressive and assertive unlinked most of these bytch ass democrats.

it’s interesting because ‘Lumbees’ have been historically anti-black. they were running blm protesters out of robeson co. last year. and they switched over to voting for a racist white republican who promised them he would get them federal recognition status for their vote.

Above the fray.
Until Coach Kevin Sampson mentioned the story at the last Final Four press conference,

Coach Sampson is in the Final Four this year. At the press conference, legendary journalist William C. Rhoden asked him to speak about his father.
He mentions his father, his background, and an incident that occurred in 1958.

The Battle of Hays Pond

I'd never heard of the Hays Pond incident.

Interesting angle for a political ad. I think Sandhill might be a term that Poor whites have co-opted from slur to generic formal term......a more acceptable version of Hillbilly or Redneck.

He seems like a cool dude, and I hope he wins:salute:

but I’ve always heard the Lumbee Indians had black in them but hated black people or something to that effect.

the quick version of their "history"

Back when that happened they clowned Black people, saying if we took that kinda action whites wouldn’t be able to commit racial violence in NC. It took Robert F. Williams to point to the differences between that isolated incident and what we were dealing with on a daily basis.

Black people in that area of NC had many instances of defending their neighborhoods with guns but the press wasn’t gonna report that.
