Have you guys heard of gamer gate? I honestly have personally stopped visiting most game review sites, because they tend to be filled with cacs, however, apparently there has been alot of drama in the gaming industry in regards to women and minorities facing racism. This dude really goes in on the gaming journalism community for racism:



Honestly, this is the PRIME reason why my number 1 source for games information is non other than THE ARCADIUM. Alot of these game reviewers are racist cacs, straight up.

It really kicked when some feminazi bytch got caught fukking for good revirws then cried sexism. Even though she was guilty and a scum bag.


Gaming journalism is a fukking joke. I dont trust any of them.


Reviews are so inconsistent. They rip games apart for one thing then let other games slide.


Every single bethesda game are buggy messes. Sometimes unplayable. Yet reviewers dont dock points for it. The combat in the elder scroll games is laughable. But it isnt held against it.

Between payolas and all the other shady shyt i just view them as all having agendas one way or the other.

I have seen the stories about that Zoe chick and the mess she was involved in but I didn't know the topics of racism were being brought up. It doesn't surprise me that some racist stuff is being said but the fact that some of those so called journalists are saying it on public forums did catch me a little off-guard. Game reviews have always been sketchy even going back to the EGM days so you just have to be careful when choosing a game and listen to actual player reviews. That's one of the great things about steam because player reviews make it easier to gauge a games quality. I treat it like anything I buy online, look at the negative reviews and see if there is a common complaint if so then it's more than likely legit.

Don't really care. I'd take the typical gamers' side more seriously if they didn't they have so many "oppressed white male" moments from this when it's obviously just a gender/gay issue. A good chunck of people that complain about "Social Justice Warriors" are racist.

As for them having influence over reviewers, I've gotten tired of scores anyway (got disappointed by too many 90+ games) but I guess it could be a problem. Compainies giving bonuses to reviewers already have too much influence so let's focus on that first.

Only one thing that took it too far for me was a cac who wrote an article calling Mario Kart racist for not having any black people. Such obvious clickbait.

Yeah we talked about it a bit when the story broke about that Zoe chick. I pretty much trust user reviews only at this point. Ill go to the big sites to watch the videos and get some background info on a game but as far as fun factor and if the game is good.......I trust the people here and a few friends.

I just heard about it last week. Apparently, that Zoe chick that was talked about on here and some other feminist dyke complaining about women not being dominant heroines kicked off this movement where some gamers are trying to purge out social critiquers and want to keep the video game industry purely focused on video games. I partially agree with them although I don't approve of the extreme measures they've gone to. It's not that serious.

For a very recent example, Polygon gave Bayonetta 2 a 7.5 for having you play an oversexualized character, etc. Anita, the feminist who basically started all this "SJW" movement didn't like that other reviewers weren't doing the same.

Feminism is trying hard. It's a popular topic in pc circles too. Rock paper shotgun, a great pc gaming site, is all over it.

It kinda makes sense though. More and more women are gaming, which is a good thing.

Hopefully the bad parts of feminism aren't brought along. I'm all for equality between the sexes, but some feminists take it way, way too far.

This pretty much has been the hot topic of the latter half of 2014. After Zoe Quinn's shyt, it's been a pretty major subject, and obviously won't be going away anytime soon. There's a lot of different aspects than just the "feminism" and review/payola parts.

Thing with some of this stuff is...there are just some terribly picked battles. Remember when Mass Effect 3 was going to have the female cover? And it went to a vote to decide what FemShep would make the cover? People really got mad that the blonde chick won. They claimed it's not fair that the pretty blonde won and that males were being superficial and that the blonde doesn't represent saving the galaxy. When gamers are complaining about shyt like that, it makes it hard for me to even give a fukk what they say at times. A lot of gamers that speak on this don't articulate their arguments well at all either and just say "Well if you think this, you're that," without any substantial points to expound on(trust me, a lot of the GamerGate talking points I've come across are worse than Youtube comments).

I'm all for the movement, though. I don't fukk with reviews at all, and if I do, it damn sure isn't for the score. I don't give a lot of these websites my clicks cause this shyt is so rampant EVERYWHERE. Sad thing is, gamers will continue to click on articles from websites that are clear offenders of this shyt, but will turn around and yell their opinions on it like they aren't enabling the shyt. I honestly don't think I really even check a website for gaming news these days. I just browse gaming forums and follow games on Twitter. Might end up on youtube watching gameplay vids/trailers, and that's about it.
