I don't agree with calling ADOS dumb as i support reparations for all slave descendants including ADOS, but everything else he said interested me because as a UK breh, i've always wondered how connected the gullah are to mainstream black america.

Having bajan ancestry, I know that a lot of slaves from Barbados were taken to south carolina so that sparked my interest in them.

Not a lot about their contemporary situation online. So how is the mainstream black american relationship with them today ? Do they remain isolated or are they assimilating more now ? Any geechee's on here that feel the same ?

Dude is right. Africans had become "black Americans" by the time America was being built.

If you think about it, besides skin color Africans and Black Americans really have nothing common cuz the cultural connection does not exist anymore

He said what he said. If that's what his family did -- and were allowed too. That's beautiful.

I don't agree. But, he is free to have his opinion. We know our family and culture -- that is why we are doing what we are doing.

NO matter, if he agrees or not our advocacy will help him and the entire Gullah Geechee community/descendants.

As they are being pushed out and bought out. Reparations will help them keep their land and get what's due.
