I think it’s an addiction and mental health problem mostly
How can someone like her look in the mirror and then sit down and eat stuff she KNOWS is slowly killing her
They are physically and mentally dependent on the bad foods. Physically they need the sugar and carbs and mentally they need the dopamine hits of tasting the junk food

To a lesser degree I acknowledge the education aspect. Though to me it’s not rocket science that baked fish is better for you than a quarter pounder. But maybe somewhere there are ppl who just can’t grasp the concept of healthy foods

The expense and time argument I don’t buy at all. Fast food and take out is expensive as shyt now, and even more so if you Uber eats/door dash it. Meats like chicken and ground turkey is basically the cheapest you can buy and making a salad is one of the cheapest quickest meals you can prepare.

It's basically these things that will only be fixed if big companies are broken up.

1. Cities are designed for cars rather than people. You end up in a situation where someone spends up to 1hr commuting to work. 8 hours sitting in chairs and then another hour commuting back home where they'll possibly stand to cook a meal, but then just sit down for a few more hours watching TV or reading or posting on social media before going to bed. Trying to design the city to be more walkable with bike lanes, pedestrian only zones, shrinking thr roads and then putting more busses and trolleys on there in addition to trains will be met with HUGE pushback from suburbanites and auto and gas lobbyists.

2. A lot of packaged food is jam packed with salt and sugar, and much of the foods marketed at children have tons of that inside them. A happy meal has sugar in the ketchup, salt in the patty, salt in the fries, salt on the chicken nuggets, sugar on the bun. Salt and sugar in the sauces and the drink is 90% sugar. You get kids addicted early and they're hooked on sugar and salt for life. Add peer pressure to the mix and some kids have no chance if their parents aren't able to afford sports and have the time to drive their kids to practice which feeds into my first point. Agribiz demons like nestle, Kelloggs, Monsanto, etc. Will never be okay with more strict standards on sugar and sodium content. McDonald's and the other big players in the fast food industry won't just let that shyt happen either. They're part of the people fueling the fat acceptance movement. They're turning a health issue into a social issue and give if enough time there'll be a white part added to the pride flag to symbolize fat people(the white is solidified fat, white sugar, white bread, and white salt. The most addictive and nutritionally dangerous items)

3. Poverty forces people to work longer hours, which drains their energy and they're more likely to feed their kids what I mentioned in point 2. The unhealthy food is attractively packaged, more accessible than vegetables and much easier to prepare for tired parents. Yes Parents. Unless you're a silicon valley engineer or surgeon or skilled tradesman with the right certs you are not raising a family on your own with a stay at home wife being a home maker. Those days are dead thanks to bosses refusing to pay their employees what they're worth and blocking unionization efforts so people can collectively bargain for a better deal.

4. A lack of access to proper medical care. Adults who've deconditoned and want to lose weight can't access physiotherapy. They can't access a family doctor that can help them with a treatment plan or refer to dietitians. They can't access preventative medicine to manage blood glucose and pressure. They can't access counseling to deal with the roots of their junk food addiction. Your brain is stimulated by sugar especially, so cutting down when you've been hooked since you could walk is extremely difficult without help. Big pharma will not be cool with subsidized medicine and will oppose that shyt at every election cycle.

60 minutes had a good special on this recently

Genetics and the person's individual brain

It was a trait to protect against starvation to make weight loss more difficult..so the brain communicated things to the body to slow down metabolism. The theory goes that the brain gets accustomed to a certain weight range and kicks in if someone falls out of that range.

So really weight loss has to be a long process where you set a new range for your brain to get accustomed to. That's why you hear so often about putting putting pounds back on after a big weight loss.

Also delicious food.
Just seeing this, that drug already went viral, people take that stuff serious. I have seen it work also.. Its been sold out because everyone been tryna get they hands on it.. It was a good story overall, I think its true because I have seen people who eat very little and they still stay big

Wegovy got people goin crazy, but it does work..

Insignificant posting from an insignificant poster
Lack of discipline and impulsive desires (that we cave into mindlessly and live without accountability, we just all assume there will be no repercussion for engorging/over indulging in what is only supposed to be sustenance... to keep us live. Now folks just live to eat).

There was once a time where, especially during the Gregorian era and Geometric period of circa 900 bc, fine-dining/eating well was considered a pleasure-laden luxury that only the opulent could afford to divulge in. Hence the term "ambrosia".

Now it's the norm and we do it in excess.

And lastly, with the way modern society is... sad and teary lifestyles.

IMO the quality of food. Also, food stopped being a necessity and has become an experience due to all the flavors and textures of today's foods.

Diet and exercise. Everyone isn't cut out to be Mr. or Ms. Olympia but if you aren't committed to grinding, then obesity is a risk that you run. Hell, I'm been at it since August of last year and I'm now floating around the weight I was when I was in my early 20s. Fruit and yogurt for breakfast and salad for lunch more days. I also work out 40 minutes a day. Lack of discipline hurts people

Repped. This is The Whey.

You see it too. :mjpls:

Not even taking shots at you but 40 minutes a day ain't even that much, is it? That's not even two episodes of Seinfeld. :mjlol:

Folks be making it seem like they have to live inside the gym to not be land manatees. They got time to do all other sorts of bullshyt but can't find the time to get right, huh?
Kevin Hart

Muhfukkas in this thread blaming everything from mental health and dollar menus to Chevrolet and Jim Crow, but most folks simply don't workout regularly, play sports as adults, and/or work physically-demanding jobs.

Once you make fitness an integral habit in your life you're not tripping over a "10 piece meal once a month" or "high fructose corn syrup" like the average coli poster is.

My after gym dinner

DdkerNd.jpeg

1 oven tray meal. Roasted cabbage, roasted butternut squash, and a yoghurt and tahini sauce, sprinkled with a lil chilli oil. Tahini is like peanut butter but with sesame seeds instead of peanuts
HGiQeNu.jpeg

These are all my ingredients excluding seasoning which was onion powder garlic powder paprika salt and pepper

You don’t have to spend a tonne of money to eat well, nor do you need a load of ingredients
First? That looks delicious.

Second? You changed your mindet and applied it. A lot of folks aren't at that point. And they need a much bigger push than others. Just the way it is.

They are stuck in routines and habits. Routines and habits cloud details. If they are bad for decades they cloud details into dust.

It realy comes down to a lack if education on food and nutrition.
