once an animal taste the flesh of humans, it will ASSUME that humans can be food.

An animal is not smart enough to differentiate between human flesh and other flesh.
That's why when a dog kills or bites a person it's almost killed immediately to prevent the next person from being eaten.

I put murders in the same category, if they go unchecked...they will kill again.
Dogs are killed for biting ? Incredible. :ohhh:
A tamed dog is still an animal and that's what people always forget thinking they just became living toys.
The fault is on humans for thinking that, and thinking that taming an animal forever dismisses its animality, and not on the dogs. That's why I don't think we should kill dogs no matter what they did because we shouldn't "own" them in the first place.

It's not that confusing...

If somebody killed my brother, and was found guilty, I would like to be the one who puts that needle in their arm, or pulls the lever when they hang...That's the only way, I will get some closure and peace...

If you are not able to that and live with yourself, then maybe the killer does not deserve to die after all...

Death penalty is a state sanctioned act of revenge...Therefore, the people most affected by the murder, should be the ones to execute the guilty...

That crime is beyond horrible.
But I think the death penalty is just something beyond a state's right and above all, is not necessary : if you can put an offender away for life and therefore protect the citizens from him forever, why put him to death ? Why the need to overdo the punishment when life is enough ? Isn't it the reasonable thing to give them life because it is enough ?
How can we properly judged that one deserves to live or to die ? I think it's more of a philosphical debate but still, how do we draw the line ? and why should me draw that line (life / death) because objectively, it's not necessary ?

Sometimes, I don't think that sex offenders (pedos, rapists or even torturers) deserve to "live" but that's just an opinion as a citizen and that thought comes everytime an awful story like this comes to ligh. But I'd never want a world where they are put to death for being that.
If you look at this 2011 study, it clearly shows that sex-offending issue is a little more complex than just the evil predator stuff : http://www.aic.gov.au/publications/current series/tandi/421-440/tandi429.html

Nothing you said or the article you cited is wrong, but just a matter of opinion. I don't think you're wrong for thinking life is enough for someone that videotapes themselves raping a newborn infant, especially if you are in favor of long prison sentences for the reasons you or acri1 stated above.

I merely think that when a line is crossed such as that one, there is absolutely no redeeming value to allow that being to exist in any capacity. Not because it serves as a deterrent but because a being that commits that horror isn't fit to exist period. Wasting a cent on keeping that being fed, housed and sustained, even for life, is not appropriate enough. That being said, it is an opinion which I admittedly derive from an emotional source, which is not the best suited course for legal and rational decisions such as ending a person's life.

As Gandalf so eloquently said (Tolkien):

“Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.”

Also for most people worried about disproportionate among of minorities on death row.....
MOST BLACK PEOPLE IN AMERICA ARE KILLED BY OTHER BLACK PEOPLE

hold on...let's not act like that means much of anything. most white people are killed by other white people. most indians are killed by indians, most latinos are killed by latinos. people are killed by people they're around the most.

the problem with the disparity of black people on death row and blacks in prison in general is the inherent bias, prejudice in arrest, burden of proof leading to convictions and sentencing against blacks and minorities. we are more likely to be convicted on circumstantial or flawed evidence than any other race. and guess who is doing the judging and sentencing in the large majority of of those cases... old white men who still adhere to old prejudices and stereotypes.

let's not forget that not too long ago a black person could be sentenced and hung from a tree or placed in front on a firing squad with virtually no evidence or clearly manufactured evidence.

Even if I (slightly) disagree, I got your point.
I just don't think that jail provides sustainment to an inmate (even if, it effectively does) but it's more about protection from the citizens IMO. I know it's a half empty / half full comparison but it's important to see it as punishment more than a temporary hotel stay.
Maybe it will be better if the capital punishment was to send the culprit in a desert island where he couldn't escape... Could be compromise between life and death penalty with only advantages :
- no cost for the people
- no killing from the state

Like In general, Do you believe that it should used at all? If yes, Do you think murder is the only crime that should be eligible for capital punishment?

Not used enough. I lot of these dudes who commit multiple murders, rapes, or other violent acts should be offed. With DNA testing, it should be easier to determine who is guilty or not. Kill them all.

So this guy Clayton Lockett, was convicted of shooting 19-year-old Stephanie Neiman
Stephanie_Neiman_small.jpg
and watching two accomplices bury her alive in 1999 in Oklahoma.

Pretty Heinous huh. Jury sentenced him to death.

Lockett's requested a steak, shrimp, a large baked potato and a Kentucky bourbon pecan pie :eat:but was denied because it exceeded the $15 limit, :to: and he declined a separate offer from the warden for a dinner from Western Sizzlin,

So on Tuesday he was put to death by lethal injection

but somebody botched his shyt.

The execution began at 6:23 p.m., and he was unconscious 10 minutes later. They administer an anesthetic to knock out the death row inmate out while they inject a lethal dose in his body. He is supposed to not feel anything :troll:

he woke up

and

Lockett grimaced and tensed his body several times over a three minute period before the execution was shielded from the press. Lockett spoke at three separate moments. The first two were inaudible, however the third time he spoke, Lockett said the word "man.

His death came 43 minutes after the drugs began flowing. He eventually died of a heart attack.

State Corrections Director Robert Patton halted the Lockett's execution, citing vein failure that may have prevented the deadly chemicals from reaching Lockett.

Now I don't understand why the fukk if you believe in the death penalty, why do you give two fukks about how a person dies.

Cruel and unusual my ass, killing somebody period in any way is cruel and unusual, two wrongs don't make a right.

Japan, but from the 989
It's too expensive and not a real deterrent to criminal behavior. But, maybe I'm just a savage, but I think they should bring back public executions. Town square off with his head type of shyt. Or let the victim's family members carry out the punishment.

But in my opinion that should only be an option for a certain type of criminal.
1. Murders
2. Pedophiles--You can't cure them.
3. People who knowingly pass AIDS to someone else.

In theory I'd be for it. Which is only to say that, I believe that it's okay for a society to kill off it's most heinous criminals as opposed to showing them mercy. You do something really wrong, you are killed...on it's most basic level I'm okay wit that. Obviously, I expect near certainty of an individuals guilt before it could be used. I am also strongly disagree with it being used against those with mental disabilities. Crimes worthy of such punishment? Murder, rape, enslavement of others, acts of treason against the nation. Hell...I'd personally be okay with certain classes of white collar criminals being put to death....those Enron executives should have been fukking tortured and hung as far as I'm concerned. Such greed, that affects the lives of soooo many people....should be treated as violating human rights.

In practice? I am 100 percent, with every fiber of my being, against the Death Penalty as it is currently administered within the United States. The racial dichotomies on it's use, as well as the nations historical and current attitudes and practices in regards to RACE in general, show me that this country is utterly incapable of administering the death penalty in a fair and honest fashion.

If African Americans split from the US, and we formed our own nation state where the high majority of those working in the justice system were black people, and where the majority of both victims and perpetrators were black people....I'd likely vote YES on the death penalty. But put that shyt on the ballot with us in our current predicament and I'm voting no. Whites can't be trusted to determine the fate of black lives.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McCleskey_v._Kemp

^ One of the worst Supreme Court decisions ever made....they had the chance to right a clear and utter wrong, and failed miserably. They basically said that black lives don't even matter with this decision....

Do you not believe in the appeals process? Do you think that death penalty cases should be the only cases where there ISN'T an appeals process (And how would you justify that? These are the most important cases, they warrant appeals more than any other case!)

Do you think that death penalty appeals should be given "special clearance" so that these appeals can be heard faster?

I'm not trying to "get at you", but I hear this argument a lot and I'm unsure of whether people have really thought through just what exactly they are asking for.

Those countries that find someone guilty, then immediately take them behind the court house and shoot them, are clearly executing more innocent people than the countries that have a thorough appeals process.

China recently seems to have prolonged their process, if only for 2 years : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_punishment_in_China

I personally don't trust 'good ole boy' district courts to have the only say in death penalty cases. There needs to be a thorough process, and if that takes time, it takes time....:manny:
