yeah most of the whole process is just weeding people out.

thats why i laugh when i see people be like damn 17 credits that was light work to me you just got to want it basically. same as being an athlete. yeah you have to have some size or whatever but what will separate you from most is whether you willing to stay in and study friday night or you tryna go out and get hoes

The trick to getting the scholarship is going to a fancy elite college, so it is worth it for the family to go into hock to pay for SAT tutoring. SAT should be 1400 out of 1600. They don't award scholarships until after you make your final decision and they like to crow about how many Ivy Leaguers they have.

Go to a college that is known for grade inflation like Stanford, Harvard, Brown, Yale, etc. Apply early admissions to your first choice especially if you are a black male. The scholarship ends in 2019 so spread the word to any low-income high schooler who is interested in STEM. They can go to medical school for free, NO student loans, NO debt. Then they can move to South Carolina, live cheap, and earn $600,000 a year.
