To my knowledge Goku and Chi Chi are farmers. Towards the end, Mr Satan was giving Goku or whoever let him "win" the tourney the prize money.
The last time he won a tournament was back in Dragonball though in his fight against Piccolo.

I bet Trunks ain't struggling like that pauper goten. Trunks is like the kid on the street who had the flyest everything. Jordans, playstation, whatever.
