...What do other musical genres do for you that rap doesn't/cannot?

Personally Rap usually motivates me to combine a street smart work ethic, with any natural drive that I possess, to increase my chances of being financially independent and successful.

Gotta hustle brehs. :smugdraper:

On the flip side genres like Brazilian Bossa Nova and Classical music just put me in a relaxed zone that Rap usually cannot. :ahh: :manny:

Discuss.

It inspires me and motivates me to progress, physically with my life choices and mentally as a person. when I feel like listening 90's hip hop it educates me and helps me put things into perspective, and that ignant trap shyt helps me not take things so serious and teaches me not to over analyze things and just be able to sit back and enjoy the good within the bad.

i listened to mostly punk rock and hardcore for like 10 years, until I realized it's a self defeating genre. a lot of the music within that genre, the lyrics were REALLY negative (self hate, world hate, suicidal thoughts, etc etc) I connected with it, but it also continued to keep me in that dark place mentally that I loathed just because it felt nice to have something to "connect" with

rap is definitely the more enjoyable genre, for me. once i stopped listening to that other shyt, i overall started feeling better about my self, and life.

I often hear that, personally I don't listen to Punk Rock.

I feel you though on the different eras of Rap coming through with the different "moods". It's really dope when you think about it. :myman:

Its the ultimate form of music.

Alot of it comes from the fact that hip hop was formed off of sampling other genres and adding our own twist to it.

I find myself askin' the same question...

You see, I did really start from the bottom... Now Im well off, educated, moved out the hood, with a new perspective on life...

I think rap reminds me where I came from... N ima be straight up; I find most rap nikkaz ignant n simple as fukk... But I still enjoy the music, cuz I understand where they comin' from...

N to tell yal lthe truth I only listen to rap... I like house/electronic music to party... But Im always listenin' to rap...

growin' up fatherless I tended to look up to these nikkazz (Pac, DMX, 50 Cent)

Every genre can express a sentiment, but i think rap is the best as far as capturing the essence in words, which is something i appreciate.
