boring people with some skills need to be writers
Producers need to stay producers and not try to be moguls
Execs need to do their damn job and sign REAL TALENT, people who can actually perform and do the job at the highest level

When labels stop forcing artists to make songs like the next hottest nikka or forcing them to appeal to a certain audience when its out of element. It was sicking hearing Jadakiss trying to make trap music on his last mixtape or dudes being forced to make songs like Drake or appeal to his audience

Even online, certain artists are way easier to "find" than others. If you are looking for someone who isn't "hot" or doesn't fit into one of the neat little internet rap phenotypes you are SOL. Plus again there is simply so much music available, there literally isn't time for anyone to sort through it all. There is nothing like a "hip hop Pandora"- every platform for "finding" hip hop is severely limited either in the range of music it supports or the limitations in how it lets you search for music. The internet has made it great for people to find and follow artists they already know and like, but it is not good at sifting/sorting through talent IMO.

you know the game is rigged when i go to soundclouds homepage last night, and it has some white guy sitting down with a sign that says i'm listening to, and names 2 artistis. one is guess who? macklemore .

i dare them to put some no name groups name in there or some no name rappers name in there. purely off the strength that someone found said group/artist and the music was hot.

We need to have actual personalities and original producers again. Original personalities produces MCs like Redman and Ghostface that make funny ass story telling tracks. Or the Nas's and the early KRS that spit some other type shyt. Or even a Keith Murray . We need a young Ice Cube that shyts on any bullshyt in society and cruse them to oblivion. We need original production again to break out the bullshyt trends and give a breath of fresh air.

"Back on track" is subject to taste. I tend to lean on the idea that regional sounds were better, in my opinion. There seems to be some sort of homogenized sound that is a common denominator amongst what's popular. Also, personally it's almost like flows have disappeared, it's just people rather hum-drum talking.

I think that any genre of music will have growing pains. Rap has only been around for 30 some odd years and it will change as time goes on. Music as a whole has done that regardless of genre.

The type of material I grew up listening to is gone, don't know that I want it back. I can surely find that sound among newer material, just have to dig for it.
