It’s an interpolation, I think it was credited on the album idk. And he put Gunna on the hook who was on the original.

either way Travis been having writers, he doesn’t rap like that
what is an interpolation again?

Seeing Travis videos of him in the studio pressing buttons and keyboards like he’s actually doing something has always been funny to me

either way , I still fukk with his presentation and music
He can actually produce though. He doesn't do it as much anymore but ye gives him a ton of credit for shaping the sound of yeezus. Ye also signed him as a producer originally. He seems to have moved away from hands-on beatmaking for a more curated approach. Regardless, dude isnt the talentless fraud people in here are making it seem like.

Wikipedia -

In popular music, interpolation refers to using a melody — or portions of a melody — from a previously recorded song but re-recording the melody instead of sampling it. Interpolation is often used when the artist or label who owns the piece of music declines to license the sample, or if licensing the piece of music is considered too costly.

I got introduced to Travis in 2011/12 when he was couch surfing between NY and LA. I make music and his people wanted us to work together at the time. In the little time we worked together, they stole several tracks and ideas and I can confirm he doesn’t produce. But what he deserves credit for is his drive to win. What he lacks in talent, which is a lot, he makes up in that and that’s what got him where he is now. But he’s not a producer.

That's been the story from jump. When he first got in the studio with Kanye, he was playing beats/songs from another artist that he didn't write. He's a curator. Great ear for hooks/concepts/beats/etc. He jacks shyt, makes it his, and the rest is history. Low key...he basically stole ASAP Rocky's entire swag and erased that dude from existence.

That's not to say he never writes or produces anything, but you can't deny he has a team of hungry broke producers he mines from.

Being a curator is what most creators are in 2020. Real talk.

Same way The Dream has wrote probably all your favorite R&B hits from Rhianna to Beyonce but doesnt have their star dom (although a way better career than CyHi in the public eye)

Dude can retire off writing Single Ladies and Umbrella :dead: CyHi is the go to writer for Kanye West and The Dream is the go to writer for Beyonce

Songs written by The Dream just from the big stars, not counting the smaller artists:
1+1 (Beyonce)
Baby (Justin Bieber verses)
Blame It (Jamie Foxx)
End Of time (Beyonce)
Hard (Rhianna)
Holy Grail (Jay Z Featuring Justin Timberlake)
Just fine (Mary J Blige)
Kiss The Sky (Jason Derulo)
Love On Top (Beyonce)
Me Against The Music (Britney Spears)
Moving Mountains (Usher)
No Church In The Wild (Jay-Z/Kanye featuring Frank Ocean)
Part 2 - On The Run (Jay-Z + Beyonce)
Run The World (Beyonce)
Single Ladies (Beyonce)
Smash Into You (Beyonce)
Touch My Body (Mariah Carey)
Umbrella (Rhianna)
XO (Beyonce)

Mans went from small venues to selling out arenas and headlining festivals. :wow:

Why he's so popular? He puts out good music and is a top tier performer. What more could you ask for when being a fan of an artist?
