No sense of making music? Examples![]()
Hospin comes to mind
I don't even know who that is![]()
This is what irks me when these discussions come up...now is Hopsin a rapper with a lot of musicality? No, but 'no sense of making music?' I wouldn't say that. His content is not something that is going to be palatable to a lot of casual fans but he doesn't completely disregard music for his words, he can flow, he CAN make the same type of music that's out now and popular yet he would rather parody it because that's just what he's on. People start calling this stuff based on bias without really examining INTENT.
Take Poet Laurette for example:
His INTENT was to create an endless stream of rhymes, the beat isn't horrible but the musicality is really an after thought because his passion is in the poetry. He has better songs along the same lines but in general, Canibus is one of those guys that isn't really inclined to put that much effort toward the musicality. Rap as an art form pre-dates Hip Hop culture and rap music and can be expressed on it's own merits. You want proof of that, it's a whole industry of rappers making more money off of their rhymes than some of the guys on the radio and they don't even rap to beats. So you can still appreciate a guy like Canibus if you love the art of RAP more so than the genre of music that utilizes it, if that makes sense.
