Not only have they been trash for 12+ years, but they are completely irrelevant. They have been averaging like 500 fans a night since 2011.:unimpressed:

Every draft pick they select is a bust (Cade)
Arena is always empty
The city doesn’t care
They play in the poorest city in the NBA
They have no leadership, no hope, no nothin
I haven’t seen Martin post about them on IG

NBA needs to Get rid of them.. send them to Vegas, Seattle, or Louisville

Metro Detroit is still one of the largest sports media markets in the country. That's the point. Detroit proper doesn't have much population but the metro area is still one of the largest in the country. And you can also add in some of Northern Ohio to that market as well. Not to mention the Pistons have won a championship in the past 20 years. That's more than you can say for Washington, Charlotte, Brooklyn/New Jersey, Portland and many other teams.

The Pistons have more championships than the Knicks :sas2:.

But there's probably about 5 or or so cities that historically always had and will ALWAYS have the four major sports.

LA, NYC, Chicago, Dallas, Minneapolis, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Philly

Take away hockey and you can increase that to 10 or so cities.

Houston, Phoenix, Miami, Atlanta, etc.

Budget

It was originally announced that Little Caesars Arena would cost $450 million to construct, on top of an additional $200 million for constructing the new district. $285 million of the total $650 million cost would be public funds, with $365.5 million in private funding.[34][92]

On May 23, 2017, it was reported that the cost of the arena had risen to $862.9 million.[12]

In June 2017, a lawsuit was filed by Robert Davis and city clerk candidate D. Etta Wilcoxon, seeking to prohibit the use of school property tax revenue to fund Little Caesars Arena and the new Pistons headquarters without a public vote. The money had originally been approved by voters only for use by Detroit Public Schools Community District to cover operational expenses.[93] District Judge Mark A. Goldsmith dismissed much of the suit, ruling that the plaintiffs lacked standing to sue over the issue. The judge did, however, allow an unrelated count, alleging violations of the Equal Protection Clause by the DPSCD against Davis, to move forward.[94]

The DDA, which owns the arena, uses an estimated $15 million annually in state school taxes to repay Michigan State.[35]
