It's a psychological thing. Being friendly, to most people is literally like wearing a mask, people believe that it hides a person's true intentions. Someone who appears friendly makes people uneasy due to the world that we live in being use to seeing signs of anger and other emotions as indicators of a person's mental state and intentions.
