how im posed to kno dumbass :what:
:russ: how do you not know how old you were between 96-2000?

to be honest, Pac dying, coupled with Dre leaving Death Row was really the thing that killed it because it allowed other cats to take over. we all know that Dre didn't invent G Funk but he & Death Row were the ones who popularised it and when they fell off so did the sound.

Oddly enough it was dre

2001 came out and had stripped down beats and people ran with it IMO

Still had some funk but he truly changed the game with the production

lol,

but real talk tho, just sit back and think. Hip Hop changed so much from 96 to 2000. Thats just 4 fukking years.
I feel like hip hop changed more in those 4 years, than it has in the last 10
I think Pac + Biggie (and a few other nikkas like Pun and Freaky Tah) dying made nikkas wanna get away from all that gangsta shyt. Whole game has kind of been in a lurch ever since.

Plus the shyt just sounds old nikka. That high pitched oooooooooooooooooWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEooowowowowWWWEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sound aint the wave nikka.

Hip hop is forever changing

Hip hop right now is big on DJ Mustard style of beats so the West is relevant without G funk:yeshrug:

Honestly, G-Funk wasn't killed... it just died out.

it didn't overstay it's visit, and it didn't leave too soon...it left right when the time was right.

all the artists who were influential in making G Funk, ended up moving onto new/different shyt.

IMO, that's what makes G Funk so great, cause it represents a precise time in the West Coast from a musical and cultural standpoint.....and OG cats didn't run it into the ground trying to bring it back every year, and new rappers weren't trying to take it back to G Funk to gain some fanbase.

i always thought it gradually went away as the need for clearing samples became more and more necessary making sampling expensive
