Flex seems to imply that Diddy did something shady to L and it was hurtful to L's career.

Can someone educate us on this ?

They already explained it.....The original MVP had the One More Chane remix beat first....there was an issue about it to where Big L had to remix MVP for the video version because Biggie freaked the beat on a bigger level overshadowing Big Ls original version.

Yeah it was fukked up but it's the industry. It messed up his push for his album. The single MVP with the original beat is a classic song. The punchlines are just amazing.

I felt the remix was better......one of the Summer anthems of 95 for me along with Gangsters Paradise, 1st Of The Month, Crimonology and I Got 5 On It.

I don't think Biggie using the same sample really affected L that much...if anything, it helped L put out the better version of MVP.
The sample on Big L's OG MVP sounded more dissonant (listen to the way the notes go on a downward scale), while Biggie's version was more polished and ready for the club and radio (listen to the way the sample goes slightly upward at the end, so it doesn't sound dissonant). If Biggie's version never existed, I doubt that L would've had a radio/club hit with the OG MVP. The MVP RMX was more polished and ready for the radio, and he had the female singer on it which helped with the commercial feel. I normally like L's harder tracks, but I agree with the posters above that the RMX was a better commercial single.

also, just gonna drop this blend I did using L's 'Put It On' over the original unreleased instrumental to Nas' Represent.
