Back then i hated annihilation but now i love it for the horrible piece of shyt it is.

this plus they wanted it to be a fan service movie so they added damn near every fukking character from the Mortal Kombat universe

Paul W.S. Anderson wanted to direct it but really wanted to direct Event Horizon more and the studio wanted to go along without him so they got his DP to direct it and he along with the writers threw in everything and the kitchen sink to make a movie that like @kp404 said is full of fan service but short on what made the first one so dope which is a tight narrative, understandable characters, and a tangible world. Increased the budged from 18 mil to 30 mil and clearly all of that went to the terrible 97 CGI. Oh also killing Johnny in the first 5 min is so regrettable

I've never understood why people think Mortal Kombat 1 is a better movie then 2.
1 was dumb as fukk and a big part of the enjoyment was the dumb shyt and 2 is just as dumb but with more characters.

I loved how many characters they added as a kid but damn make the plot serviceable

I wish they'd remake the first and make him Kung Lao. Or make him raiden, iko uwais as liu kang and Donny Alamsyah as Kung Lao.
