What happened to Kyrie Irving being the perfect sidekick for LeBron James?

was saying since he was still in Miami, that if he allowed himself to be the screener, a pick and roll with him would be untouchable. especially as he gets older...I pictured him in as Karl Malone with much better passing skills
The thing about that is Lebron hasn't solidified his jumpshot at al. Pretty much anything outside the paint bron hasn't locked down. If he works on his shot seriously over these next couple seasons he could do some serious work

He's a young guy and hella talented, but to be real Kyrie Irving's game doesn't really mesh with anybody's. He's gotta learn to pass the fukking ball; and it doesn't help that he's still mostly a sieve on defense.

But his scoring ability is so tremendous you can't really just NOT play a guy like that. He could be the GOAT sixth man, but even that wouldn't be fully utilizing his talent. He's gotta improve over the offseason.

They are both ball dominant perimeter players, I'm not even a sports geek and I prognosticated this problem.

Yeah I don't recall ANYONE saying he'd be the perfect sidekick....just by the nature of their games, it'd be too much redundancy to be perfect ...I actually thought Kevin love was gonna be a better fit and that kyrie was expendable and ultimately tradable. ..looks like I was wrong though. .Lebron should eventually play 4 and love should be moved

LeBron doesn't trust Kyrie like he trusted Wade.

Wade use to feed LeBron easy baskets based on his ability to pass.

It could work. But Bron's gotta trust Kyrie and Kyrie gotta trust his ability to make the pass.

Cavs are a completely different team when he decides to play his actual position at this age.

It's hard for the rest of team to take the "leave it all on the court"mentality when LeBron only wants to be a PF only when it's necessary.

I get the need to reduce wear and tear but that's why this team partially is so wildly incosistent.

but see even in Miami, he didn't do it enough imo. for example...during I believe the 2014 ECF the heat would have on in the locker room random Heat playoff games from the previous couple years. Wade & LeBron were watching and there was a play where they did a pick and roll together and one asked the other why don't they run that anymore...the other just said "i don't know"

I'm reading that like :mindblown: uhhh...well...yall could easily fix that.

I do think LeBron is very Peyton Manning like...in the sense that he's so smart, he only trusts himself to always make the best/right play. which, I can understand...they are geniuses in their respective sports.

I think, if the Cavs get to the finals and face the Warriors Lebron should play "the 5" when they go their "death lineup" and guard Draymond. you could still keep Love on the floor...hide him on Barnes

I think its more so about his level of effort on both ends than it is what position he plays. When he's locked in and active on both ends the team looks amazing regardless of what position he is technically playing. He clearly doesn't wanna do that night in night out though. And honestly it's not realistic over 82 games with all the wear and tear he's already accrued. Bron adopted that mentality when he was running all over the court on both ends all season and playoffs too while Wade sat out games for maintenance and never improved his jumpshot and gave less and less effort on D. Everybody has their theories on why he came back but based on what we have seen the last two years, I think he was expecting Kyrie and Love to do that for him while he played the D. Wade role.
