Wherever whores go.....
Harper is a nice talent, but Trout was always the better prospect.
That's been known for years.

Just like a few years ago when Jason Heyward got all that hype but everyone knew that Giancarlo Stanton was the better talent.

Harper will still be good, but he's largely an ESPN/Media hype darling.

That's completely wrong Harper was getting ESPN hype when he was 15.He was a clear #1 even eaten he was in high school

And your wrong about Stanton and Heyward. No one compared them to each other. They are two different type of players :why:

Miggs isn't a 5 tool player like trout
yeah you right on that. Trout gonna be legendary if he stays healthy and gets a few titles and mvps under his belt. Baseball needs a star marketable player. Plus he plays for one of the biggest markets in the country.

Up until 2012, they were neck and neck.

You don't think Cabrera at least deserved the first one? His batting numbers were video game-like.
I have no problem with Cabrera winning the MVP that year.

I'm not a huge fan of the WAR stat. But I've started to come to accept it a bit.
MVP can't just go to whoever had the highest WAR in a given season. But I do think if Trout won those MVPs, it would not have been wrong.

Breh,

Just because 2 players mash up in the minors does not mean they are neck and neck.
And believe it or not, I have been following Trout and Harper for quite a while.

Lindor and Correa are both top rated minor league SS.
They're not neck and neck tho

Trout is an admitted Yankees fan and was hoping to fall to NY in the draft.

Unfortunately for them, the Angels took him 4 spots ahead.

I don't remember if Trout slipped due to signability issues, but I could ask a few scouts I know.

Gerrit Cole slipped for similar reasons the year before, though it was generally known he'd go back to college.
I think it had to do with him being a position player from the north east. Preceeding Trout... The last high school position player from the north east that scouts loved but unfortunately flamed out was Eric Duncan.

No one compared them? Really?

Listen man. You guys need to get your sports info other places besides ESPN and that bow tie-wearing dipshyt Ken Rosenthal.

I know for a fact that the only reason Harper was the media darling was based on his dad pushing his son to play at the expense of everything else. And the fact that Harper was a big power guy. He put up an impressive power display in Tampa that you can find all over youtube. And HR numbers is all the layman baseball fan ever pays attention to. The only reason BA had him 1 or 2 slots ahead of Trout.

And wrong about Stanton and Heyward? How you figure?
Heyward came up before Stanton...that's how impressive he was. But the typical goon didn't see at the time that Heyward had (and has) discipline issues with the bat and he eventually got exposed.

Do you even realize that Heyward was ranked as the better guy by BA? No, right?

:sas1:

But maybe you do know what you're talking about.

Who will be better? Kyle Zimmer or Jameson Taillon?
