Sai was my favorite back in 06-07

But I have zero interest in any new music. Stick to the podcasts

Aint no one looking out for Saigon's music nowadays...

He came out at the wrong time tbh.

2006-2007 was the bubblegum rap era where cats were snapping their fingas and making trick anthems like @Wild self always told me

These things kinda stunted his growth

1. Signing to Atlantic was his 1st Mistake. That label ain't for someone like Saigon .

Maybe someone like Wiz Khalifa.

Saigon would have been making snap songs and working with Yung Joc had he played ball and then they would have wanted a whole album full of those songs

2. Beating up Prodigy on stage.

That kinda caused Saigon to lose fans looking back on it especially since Mobb Deep fans are the ones who would listen to his type of music. Best believe someone made some calls. Probably was 50 since him and P were cool.

3. Falling out with Just Blaze.

Similar shyt with Lupe Fiasco. Bad timing When everyone wanted to be dancing and tricking for female attention while quality bars, music, and message took a backseat.

Wasn't until the end of 2009 when J Cole dropped "The Warm Up" when people wanted substance again.

I don’t give a damn what P said. GSNT is a dope ass album.
Loved how every song (Enemies/Friend & It's Alright/Believe It) blended into each other seamlessly:ahh::banderas:

Yup...

People liked the South because their stuff were dumbed down and didn't require u to use a dictionary.

Now I see why Lupe made "Dumb It Down".

Even Pimp C wanted for rappers to have more social commentary before he died.

Life ain't always about tricking and simping.

Saigon was a intelligent thug so I respect him for always taking a stance against gangs.

Yeah, from 06 to early 09, I was in school and No one wanted to hear a basic 16 bar verse if you werent Lil Wayne, Kanye, or TI. It was also the fist time people got pissed at Jay-Z for beying lyrical with "Kingdom Come" and "American Gangster" while outright denying Nas even existed.

All about the dances and 'swag' to impress superficial hoes.

Facts....

Jay-Z knew back then that his time was gonna be short so he started investing into different business ventures which is good because the bar was set low.

Ironically Jay admitted to birthing a generation of bad MCs after not rapping using a pen and pad.

Nas even stopped chasing commercial fame and denounced those fans on the Untitled album.

2009 was the year that I started listening to Nas' catalog. He's a big reason why I like music with social commentary. My classmates looked at me funny when I played a Nas album and dissected.
