What happened to the platformers?

and I don't mean those 2d cutesy "remakes" they sell in online stores
What happened to the great 3d platformers? I haven't been playin in a while but I don't have any for my ps3
I miss em' mane.

Was trying to think of some to buy but I'm drawing blanks. I guess deep stories,graphics and online play are all that matters now.

I was playing infamous and parts of last of us and thinking the elements are still there they are just masked with realistic environments

There's Rayman, strider, and guacamelee, for last year. All great games.

Also sunset overdrive is basically a 3d platformer with guns.

There's also Ori and the Blind forest coming soon.

There were several Ratchet & Clank games on the PS3 that easily fit that bill and a remake is coming on the quad. Then there was Sly Cooper 4 well. Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U.

gotta finish that after I get the classic controller.

I played crash bandicoot on my cousins old ps2 recently which inspired this thread
those jump mechanics
that simple combat
that difficulty spike

the lbp series is decent too if you have a couple friends to jump in

At least Sony still had platformers on the side.

MS even killed it off for the Banjo Kazooie series.

They're still out there. Mostly Nintendo systems. LBP games. Indie games n shyt
