They got replaced by shooters and mature gamers feel that they too grown to enjoy quality gaming on a family-friendly setting. Sad thing is, gaming got stagnant and predictable when they got rid of creative retail game and pushed them back to downloads only.

Also @Young simba, check out this game below. It's similar to the Jak & Daxter games. Reviews weren't too nice with it though unfortunately. Mainly said that the game didn't have it's own identity too much, but it plays well and looks nice according to most reviewers.
Also, while not strictly platformers, similar titles such as Ico & Rime are worth a look.

Yea gotta admit I've been sleeping on insomniac ever since they threw spyro in the bushes I got some catchin up to do.
Was never into "download only" titles though I understand why they would choose to go that route in this age. It is a full game right?

Now all I'm waiting is for co-op to come back and fill that void in my heart.
