To me the difference between Tariq and Umar is that Tariq was smart enough to put some products together to hide or blur the line between how much he makes off his works vs what he makes thru his donations. It's a more respectable hustle and if Umar was smart he'd do the same.
To do some math on it Tariq bought a 1.3 million dollar home(while Umar still begging for money). That's a 5k+ a month mortgage give or take depending on what was put down on it, the interest rate, etc...
So lets say he get donations of about 50k-100k annually plus makes 100k from the dvds, lectures, book royalties, song proceeds(you think he doing the Mink Slide stuff for shyts and giggles?
), etc...that's between 150k-200k a year, north of 10k a month...ie so he can cover the house note plus some.
Now let's assume his donations are way more, since if Umar claiming he got 700k i could see Tariq pulling similar money over time stacking it....if he uses a large chunk of that money on a house it's no big deal because you could never prove he used it for that at all. In both cases he can always claim he earned the money thru his legit projects. He was also very smart in using some of that donation money to show he was giving to other blk organizations...which is why early on(not sure if he still does this) he was showing the checks he was cutting. Basically keeps a donation fraud charge off his head at any point because he did/does charitable works with his Melanoid Foundation.
