What happened to Youtube accounts?

originally my youtube account was my typical screen name @ yahoo.com

at some point they dropped the need to use yahoo.com and it was just winb83 they they made me merge that with my gmail which is different and now when i log onto YouTube i have two accounts under my gmail and both have some type of bs Google+ crap on them. i don't want Google+ first off but worse yet the other account it created has no subs or history on YouTube. i just want the one account i always had.

it's impossible, they changed absolutely everything to get more info out of you

basically they automatically make a google+ account for you and try to make you use a gmail account. you messed up merging, try and unmerge that somehow, that's the root of your problems.

i havent done anything like that so i still have that 1 youtube only account separate

it really sucks, they really are trying to control the world with this and shyt. forcing you to sign up with this, creating an account you dont want, making you log in with (whatever) account. just makes everything more confusing and if you use your real info in good faith it just spawns a bunch of other stuff you dont even know they're doing.

I just kept saying no and eventually I got to keep my same Youtube name, but it also created a google + page for that name too. Dumb

It's still asking me but I just "x" out the window and get hit with the "We'll ask you next time". It doesn't happen as often as it once did. I don't want a Google plus account. I'm good with gmail and YouTube. But that new new is that new sign in screen. I'm pretty sure they took away the old gmail sign in. They are hoping to wear cats down and I'm sure it's working.

Yeah, like yoyo said, you must've accepted the "merge" at some point, and now you're fukked. I still get the pop-up asking every now and then, and I just keep saying no. They tried that real name shyt with me as well. They're out of their damn minds with all the shyt they're trying to pull.

And yeah, even though they give you a Google+ account whether you want it or not (which is bullshyt), I have still managed to not activate mine. I have zero interest in that garbage.

I eventually gave in and said "yes" and put in a fake name. Changed my email to a throwaway and that way they have nothing.

Same with hotmail, asking you for a phone number or another email account, I made a throwaway email and linked it to that. It's just audacious how they're trying to get your info now.

best thing to do....is create a new email account, then go to your old youtube name, and change the 'email' setting to the new account.

yup, its a pain in the ass, made a thread about it 3 days ago, then made a new email and was about to start a new youtube account when I figued I could do it this way.

everybody is on Facebook. Google+ doesn't really seem like its worth bothering with. I never created a page but for whatever reason Google decided to make a blank one for me. Youtube won't be a gateway for me to join some second rate social network. I mean i'm sure Google+ has some interesting ideas and features but until the day it becomes the #1 used social network i see no point to having it.

after i merged accounts they kept pressuring me to use one name on Google and i kept saying no. i guess this is the result. i think i've got it fixed now to the point where in mobile apps it ignores the second account Google created but if i log in on a PC it keeps asking which account i wanna log in under. i guess that's better than nothing.
