The issue is not overtaking other races of people or being forced to wear weave (because European standard of beauty) or not wear weave (because anti European standard of beauty) - the issue is freeing your Black mind and recognizing the natural beauty as well as helping to crack open the minds of other races by representing proudly.

I'm not sure why y'all keep using this argument about what women of all races do when talking about white supremacy. Do other races where weaves? Sure. The difference is other races aren't wearing weaves that DO NOT look their hair. And when you add that to a country built on white supremacy and black inferiority it's easy to see why some black people are against weaves and perms.

The historical reason why black people perm their hair comes right out of white supremacy. It was black people attempting to leave their blackness behind because they viewed anything black as being inferior.

Look at the Clark Doll Test for further proof. You have black boys and girls as young as 3 or 4 years saying the black doll is ugly, evil, and bad and white dolls are pretty, good, and nice.

Whenever these types of discussions come up I always mention why it's so important for black people to understand the history of oppression that we've been under. It answers these questions for us.

Until we admit to ourselves we hold these internal views about ourselves, we can never begin to heal from the damage that was caused by this wicked system of white supremacy.

Just saying it's the same totally ignores the rationale behind why each group does what they do. For example if you look at what was done to black people in this country by way of white supremacist propaganda, you can see exactly where this pathology comes from. You can point to specific times in history where black people admitted to not wanting to have anything to do with their blackness, so they permed their hair, lightened their skin, got nose jobs, married or at the very least married extremely light.

The miseducation of the negro specifically deals with this topic as Carter G.Woodson explains how black people have been miseducated about our history and culture which ultimately leaves in a position where we view ourselves through the eyes of our enemies.

So if you look at it in a vacuum (white women tan and black women wear weaves, what's the difference), then it's possible to equate the two. But when you include the backdrop of white supremacy there isn't a similar system in place that gives whites a feeling of inferiority to blacks and compels them to change how they look in order to look civilized.

I don't understand this point. You're basically saying that it's wrong to criticize being for doing c00ns things and being c00ns. I don't agree nor do I believe criticizing c00ns to be a crab-in-the-bucket mentality. Now if I'm mistaken and merely criticizing a black man for what he does is a "crab-in-the-bucket" mentality, then I am guilty as charged.
