@Shogun @Yinny this is the type of revampment i was talking about.

I'd take it a step further and try to figure out a viable to vote online or through the phone....

No, if "voter fraud" was such an issue before it'd be even more of one. I do believe in restoring VR to felons once they've served their time however, but there is no accurate way to ensure fairness or to verify a person's identity or ensure privacy of your vote...I don't care about a lot of people's opinions on how our society should be run or by whom but they should make it more accessible. I prefer CFR and crackdowns on voter intimidation personally before I'd suggest expanding accessibility like that.

I personally think this country deserves Trump. Can't stand him but that's what happens when you praise the dollar over everything else, don't get mad when the shyt doesn't work in your favor.

The paper and in-person ballot needs to die though.

Eh...this isn't really true unless you're only looking at absolute numbers.

There were more votes cast in 2016 but only due to population growth. In terms of the percentage of eligible voters who turned out, which is more meaningful, 2016 was nothing special.

Voter turnout in the United States presidential elections - Wikipedia
I understand, and that's a fair point...but I still think it's also fair to say that more voters doesn't necessarily mean better government.

Probably just the pessimist in me.

elitist much? this is such a weird position for a super libertarian to hold... supposedly it is the liberals that are the "elites" that think they know better than everyone else.... yet, you don't want to hear the voices of everyday americans... you don't think they know what's best for themselves, you want someone to decide for them....?

Should be mandatory.
could be. but lets make political science mandatory as well. lets make it like this. You dont have the right to vote until you pass that class as a 17 year old in highschool. shoot you can't graduate until you pass that class. Period.

sure we can force everyone to vote and odds are everything would end up having Dems in the seats. which is better than republicans. But it aint going to make black folks lives much much better thats for sure. we need better candidates and other parties as Actual options not just something to say we have.

Terrible idea. Indifference is a great filter. I do support convicts voting once they've served their time, though.

People keep talking about voter turnout and voter suppression (and rightfully so) but no one is out campaigning to even change the election day from Tuesday or make it a federal holiday.

There should be a law making it mandatory for anyone above 18 to vote regardless of criminal history or face 1 year in prison and $10,000 fine.

I wouldn't trust the masses to vote on anything. The masses are easily manipulated.

How many people actually play the lottery? How many people are fat? How many people run-up credit cards to buy TV's and video games? Look at the most popular movies, most popular music, and most popular TV shows-- spoiler alert-- it all sucks. The government has to create Social security and host of other different retirement programs because, otherwise, most dummies in America wouldn't even save for retirement. They would spend their last dime trying to impress strangers or "Get lit".

I don't want the masses to vote for anything.

Besides, the masses in California voted "Yes" and Prop 8, which I supported, and the voted "Yes" on prop 187, which I was neutral on. However, at the end of the day, the government wouldn't allow those laws to come into effect. It was useless.

that statement still reeks of elitism..... you're saying you know what is better for the masses than they do.... what if a liberal said that...? hmm... :patrice:
It’s the reason a pure democracy would be terrible.
People in America today are misinformed and bigoted... and as Democrats constantly point out, vote against their own best interest.
:yeshrug:

I’m not an anarchist/purest so indulging in progressive like elitism is ok with me.
:lolbron:

Edit: and my post reeks of love...:mjcry: socialism is the devils game.

uh... these people don’t even vote.

which means either:

A) they aren’t informed
B) they don’t care about politics, possibly don’t even care about the state of their country
C) they are too lazy to actually go out and vote

sorry these people aren’t exactly upstanding citizens. god knows what they would even base their vote on. there’s also the chance that they could be very easily played.

I’m not insinuating that anyone that doesn’t vote is a low quality person... but there are no doubt a lot of low quality people that don’t vote. all due respect what these people think and feel isn’t really important to me.
