The problem is that embracing blatantly false conspiracy theories is a good indicator that someone's critical thinking is broken, and that has real world consequences. People who aren't smart, or who are willfully ignorant, definitely have a negative impact on others. Conspiracy theories also tend to lead people to ugly end results. Folks who start out with flat earth or faked moon landings often end up discovering racial IQ theories, or anti-Semitism theories, etc.

I clicked on the twitter profile in the OP and the pinned tweet is some anti-covid vaccine bullshyt.

It conflicts with science. The amount of brain power it would take to generate a model for the flat earth would be otherworldly, that's why it's never happening.

How about this, who do you think is more likely to hold to the position of flat earth being true, a physics student studying at a university or a highschool dropout?
