I think I've told this story on here before....but Shaq said in his book back in the early 2000s that when Alonzo Mourning with diagnosed with his kidney disease due to taking all the pain killers (over-the-counter stuff), Shaq became scared and stopped playing as hard so that he wouldn't need to take as many pain killers. He said all the big men were popping those pills a lot back then before they really knew about the long-term effects, but after Zo got sick Shaq stopped playing as hard so he wouldn't be in so much pain after games.....at least, that's what he said in his book back then.

It would have been weird cause Moses and Walton were nothing alike. Read The Breaks of the Game - that Blazer team totally revolved around Walton's passing and decision-making, if they had Moses there instead it would have been a completely different team and wouldn't have been nearly as successful.

And they couldn't keep Moses because they literally couldn't afford him. NBA wasn't very popular yet, didn't make much money at all in the 1970s, and teams often gave away good players who they simply didn't have the money to pay.

The even better what if? The Blazers traded Moses away and got the #1 pick in the 1978 draft in return. They picked Mychal Thompson with that pick. You know who they passed up?

Larry Bird. :francis:
Everybody slept on Larry. Even Bobby Knight says he's his biggest regret. He treated freshman Bird so coldly on IU campus he transferred before he even played a sec there.:snoop:

Interesting. If he wasn’t a cop he should’ve been advocating for CBD/Medical Mary use.

The best what-if I've seen on the coli is that if Sabonis goes to Portland in his prime, it's probable that they win a title or two...and Jordan's legacy is significantly less than what it currently is.
