He references the Diana Ross version but not the Judy Garland version in his follow-up? I can't see all of that tweet.

How the hell do you not know The Wiz spun off from The Wizard of Oz?

This dude really thought the new NBC The Wiz was an original production? That's not even the first Wiz.

The Wiz isn't even a remake of the Judy Garland movie. It's just another adaptation of the book by L. Frank Baum and is actually more faithful to the book than the original MGM movie. There are literally hundreds of versions of The Wizard of Oz all over the world. The 1939 MGM version just happens to be the most popular.

Besides, Baum never technically made references to characters' races. Dorothy could have easily been a black girl raised on a farm and since Oz is a fictional fantasy world, the characters could be any color. Also, since the book was published back in 1900, it's now in the public domain and has been for years, which means that anyone is free to make any version they like, which is why there are so many already.

White people have NO argument with this.

A lot of white folks are like my nosy co-worker in a nutshell...

They be ALL up in the biz even when it does NOT concern them, and feel left out when they're not included on something they have NOTHING to do with...smh but don't touch NOTHING on her desk tho!!

These folks ALWAYS have to feel like they're included on everything...they want White Entertainment Television, White Student Union, White everything that has "black" in front of it bc they feel excluded

Guess that's what happens when you have no culture of your own and you feel insufficient even when you hold all power and privilege smh
