Also, I cannot tell from the pic whether any of those kids have respect for themselves. I assume the young black man has parents that didn't explain certain things to him. or maybe they did, and he chose to behave that way anyway.
I can't condone this ... but, I can tell you this about me -- I'm of irish descent, and other than drinking guinness (and white guilt), I could not give a shyt about my heritage. "heritage and tradition are dead people's baggage - quit carrying it" -- doug stanhope.
No idea if any or all of the kids involved share that view, or if they're very engaged in learning about their respective cultures. I would hope the black kid is engaged in learning his heritage ... even if he eventually ends up like me.
