Do we even have a culture anymore? The Harlem renaissance was damn near 100 years ago,The Black Arts movement is dead,Hip Hop/R&B is basically pop music,is it just Soul Food :wtf: ? Did desegregation kill it? We seem soulless compared to previous generations.Or am I just a young confused nikka that doesn't know wtf i'm talking about.

I hate when people act like african american culture don't exist.

Who are the current great African american literary minds though? In the 50's/60's you had Nikki Giovanni,Gendowlyn Brooks,Maya Angelou, and etc.

Music used to be a key component of black culture with genres like blues, soul and early hip hop,but now our music has no real meaning behind it,it's mostly nikkas trying to make a quick dollar. We've sold out.

You don't get to choose whether or not you have a culture.

The richness of it may vary but every society maintains various cultural strands at any given time.

It doesn't stop existing just because what it consists of at this moment in time doesn't appeal to your sensibilities.

Culture cannot disappear in that sense.

Even our television shows don't reflect true black life anymore. It's like nikkas are afraid to show the struggle on TV. David Simon is the only one that shines a light on that issue, and he's as white as Garth Brooks.

So it's still here,is it safe to say that it's on life support though?

We might not have any greats now but the people mentioned are part of....african american culture. I can't think of any great black jazz musicians right now but is it black american culture...yes.

SMH. So because "music has no real meaning" its ceases to be black culture. Music will always be a key component in black culture period.

Your a confused young nikka b.
