Alright so you say its all in the followers misconstruing the Quran's commands but I say nay its in fact the Quran(the source) that embodies this evil spirit
Lets look at
Surat Al-Imran Ayat 32
"Obey Allah and the apostle, but if they turn back, surely Allah does not love the unbeliever"
We'll start with this to show that the Quran tells of Allah's hatred of the unbeliever and those who dont obey Muhammed
Now Lets look at
Surat Al-Fath Ayat 29
"Muhammed is the messenger of Allah, and those who are with him are SEVERE with unbelievers, and merciful among themselves"
Now we're beginning to see the contrast as with Christ who tells us show mercy even to are enemies
Muhammed tells us "be severe" towards those who dont believe and only show acts of mercy withing the circle(believers)
Now lets look at
Surat An-Nisa Ayat 24
"Also(forbidden are) women already married, except those (captives and slaves), whom your right hand possess"
Now it may seem as if Im sidetracking but I bring this verse up for a reason
But when the muslims were worried about whether it be okay to sleep with already married women who the captured in battle Muhammed presented this revelation to say "yea its okay to sleep with married women if they are slaves or captives"
Now lets look at
Surat Al-Ma'dah ayat 33
"The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and his apostle and strive to make mischief in the land is only this,
that they should be murdered, or crucified or their hands cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grevious chastisement"
So here we say the very violent command Muhammed reveals from Allah which shows acts of severeness to those that cause "mischief" in muslim land...
Now lets look at
Surat At-Tawbah ayat 5
"When the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captive, and besiege them, and prepare for them each, ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving and Merciful"
So what we have here is your basic "Convert or die" verse. Where we find that Muhammed reveals that his followers should search out and kill all those who are not believers, or take them captive. Aint that what Isis do...."capture unbelievers ask them to deny their faiths and if they do their spared but if they dont they are beheaded?
Welp lets now look at the same Surat
Surat At-Tawbah ayat 29
"Fight those who believe not in Allah, nor the last day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and his Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of truth, from among the People of the Book( Jews and Christians) until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued".
Another verse in the same surat outlining the severeness followers of Allah must have towards unbelievers. This time its in reference to Christians and Jews and how they get special treatment.
Instead of being outright slaughtered for not converting they have a third option that the "idolaters" dont have which is to pay Jizyat(tribute money) to muslims, acknowledging their inferiority
So much for no compulsion
Now another verse I will talk about...which will give you an understanding as to why Isis also attacks other muslims too
Surat At-Tawbah ayat 79
"O Prophet, strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them and their abode is hell and evil is the destination"
Its important to note the arabic word used for the words "strive hard" here is another form of the word "Jihad"
So muslims are not only commanded to wage Jihad on idolaters, christians and muslims, but also hypocrites, muslims who dont live by the commands of Allah.
Surat At-Tawbah ayat 111
"Surely Allah has bought of the believers their persons and their property for this, that they shall have the garden, they fight in Allah's way, so they slay and are slain"
So in this verse we see that Allah defines believers as those who slay and are slain
They keep killing until they are killed
Doesnt sound too much like the peaceful muslims, but it sounds a whole lot like Isis
Surat Muhammed ayat 35
"Be not weary and fainthearted, crying for peace when you should be uppermost: For Allah is with you, and will never put you in loss for your (good) deeds"
So what we see here is, Allah telling muslims that once they are strong enough to slay the idolaters, and the hyocrites and the People of the Book, peace is not an option. If you seek peace when you should be uppermost then according to Allah you are indeed a hypocrite
Islam so peaceful
Surah Al-Baqarah ayat 106
"Whetever communications we abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring one better than it or like it. Do you not know Allah has power over all things"
Just like u did, people here in America have been trying to condemn Isis by quoting "peaceful" verses in the Quran
but those peaceful verses were revealed before Allah commanded his followers to slay unbelievers
This verse if important to note when it comes to the doctrine of abrogation in islam which means earlier verses get cancelled out by later verses and if that the case the verse you quoted about no compulsion is obsolete.
