DC is noooo where near of a more major city than Philly ....you're tripping.....it's the capital yes and international cause of politics but stop that...they don't even have a skyline......you cant count DMV either its DC boarders and within those boarders it's noooo where near more of a major city than Philly

The most populated downtown's in the country in order is NYC Chicago Philly. Half those other cities included LA are sprawl and can't compare. Philly Chicago NyC are legit cities

I don’t think size has as much to do with Major. NYC area wise isn’t huge but it’s major because of how much shyt is in it. Manhattan alone would be a major city.

Sometimes the words “major” and “big city” are just generic terms for cities that are well known by name and less to do with actual size of it's population or the cultures within.

Let's be honest only particular small segment of cities throughout America are very well-known by the general population with many cities throughout each state not being so known in general.

For example, NYC, DC, Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Miami, Los Angeles, Boston, etc are cities that are just well-known “by heart” meaning anybody and everybody with a brain can name these cities right off top with ease.

I'd say every state on the map has a “major/big” city in terms of just being well-known right off the top of the dome.

Houston is massive due to annexing populated areas. They haven’t really annexed populated areas since the 90s now and Texas has now made it extremely hard to annex nowadays. Western cities did this except SF and Seattle.
