like cleveland, Buffalo, gary, some parts of LA or Chicago, etc.....

You can be right in the middle of the hood in new york and feel no threat...... I guess thats a good thing.
But for the most part the police and cac there have a field day as well. NYC has some of the crazies cases in history.

Well there's a huge diff in experiences in the City when you're in the hood vs tourist/wealthier areas.

I don't know who wants to visit a place they deem dangerous but we have more than enough police/military er um, presence to tamp down on "crime"- people are still gully in certain parts though.
