aside from being a Spielberg movie, you didn't like War of the Worlds at all ?

I never heard of anybody not liking War of the Worlds
I like War of the Worlds but just didn't enjoy Spielbergs version as much as I wanted to.

The script itself was flawed, bad casting and an anti climatic ending. Just didn't really do what it could have..also Independence day already did the full scale invasion movie so Spiepberg wanted to keep it more isolated to his central characters and their experience, which is understandable, I get that.

I feel your opinion breh

Indepence Day was just ok to me, a family popcorn movie

but The War of the Worlds imo had a better invasion, and it was scary and suspenseful

It's all good. ID4 is a campy version of War of the Worlds no doubt. I made the comparison in that Spielbergs film is focused on Tom Cruise and his family. There are no subplots and government characters. It's a totally different take on mass invasion. Which is cool. But it ends on a whimper.

Spielberg is always involved like that even in stuff he's not directing. He was even a camera operator for Rami Malek's audition for The Pacific doing some fly ass camera work.

Spielberg created dope special effects.
in his back yard making home Made war movies. As a kid with his friends.

Spielberg is one of the few industry visionaries. Where rhe talent matches the pr.

It was to much of a true time forward remake. Down to the ending.
It needed sumfin new to it.
It also came out during a time of spaceship science fiction remakes. That the drawing public had buyer fatigue. Plus had been duped.
by all the other trash sci fi remakes at the time. It is a good movie.
besides the annoying lui girl that Spielberg somehow makes likeable somehow. Plus cruise is just weird in this bit works. It is one of those weird Spielberg just works films. That the greats made in that time.
Good okay products but below their standards. While being a bit better than any other standard film of the time.

Kinda a showcase on how good Spielberg is. That Spielberg can make shyt tolerable. This was around his weird ai period. Where all the greats somehow figured out a good movie in the era. Then followed it up with a less than their standard performance.
Imo,..this movie feels like.
It was made.
when speilberg was having a mid life crisis.
or some battle with age and mortality as a film maker.

It is epitome of the weird Spielberg type of film. That is better than anyone else taking a shot at this landmark of a remake. Yet not what people have come to fully expect from spielberg.
