It's just showing off typically in a manner that enough people will have the :ehh: face. It is mainly confidence. however, the concept can be applied to a lot of different fields.

It's how confident someone is and how they are perceived to be in my opinion. The term gets hates from me because of how fake it is a lot of times. A lot of people are just acting and trying to have it when they actually don't which is why I don't like hearing about it. It comes off as forced and corny to me so it's difficult for me to take it seriously.

Yeah, that's true.
True confidence can't be sustained for long periods if you're faking and if you're a male, a woman will sniff that out quick.

I always thought of it as short for "swagger", which is actually a pretty old word.

From Merriam-Webster:
intransitive verb
1: to conduct oneself in an arrogant or superciliously pompous manner; especially: to walk with an air of overbearing self-confidence
2: boast, brag

and

noun
1
a: an arrogantly self-confident way of walking : an act or instance of swaggering
b: arrogant or conceitedly self-assured behavior c: ostentatious display or bravado

2: a self-confident outlook : cockiness

"Swagger" is actually a pretty negative term, which is maybe where some of the negative feelings towards the word comes from. But "swag" in the sense I hear it is basically the adjective version of there above definitions minus the negative connotations
