Really, it depends on what you're using it for.

For light browsing, I prefer to use my phone. Anything heavier than that, I need a full-fledged laptop. Thus, for me, the main purpose of a tablet is viewing movies on airplanes and keeping kids occupied during long commutes. So expandable memory is paramount (fukk the cloud and fukk a data plan) along with long battery life. The iPad has no expandable memory and adding files to it can be a pain in the ass. Also, I'm not sure if they can play mkv's and avi's....that's a deal breaker cuz most of my vid files are in those formats. I need my tablet to be robust. The Nexus 10 is robust, but that expandable memory is an issue. I was actually going to overlook that issue, but they took to long to release it. I copped a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10 on a Black Friday special with every intention on returning it once the Nexus 10 dropped, but I ended up liking it so I kept it and returned my pre-ordered Nexus :ehh:

People will come in here touting various fringe features like downloading torrents or recording albums, but who gives a shyt about features you'll never use? You need to list out what you're wife (or rather you :scheme:) will be using the tablet for and then find the best tablet to meet those needs. And bear in mind, if your needs are really basic (browsing and light gaming), there's likely not much of a difference between various tablets.

people only care about those features when they can use it against the iPad

but if you're happy with your Galaxy then thats all that matters really

also the ipad does play mkv and avi on non native apps, adding files is as easy as drag and drop but of course only with itunes

if all you need is a larger screen for internet browsing then you dont need to over pay for an ipad but if you want a fully featured device then its a best bet

Nexus 7 is really good and considering the price compared to the Ipod Mini that isn't that much better (if at all). I got to say Nexus 7. I can't speak about the bigger tablets but they've always looked like a hassle to me to deal with due to the size.

I don't know about torrents but using the downloads app I can via direct link

word? I'm not trying to use itunes AT ALL. I want to be able to download a movie or album and play it right there without using any kind of syncing shyt.

I say the Nexus 7....

Can't go wrong with the Ipad either...

But pricewise, there just isn't alot that Ipad can do that the Nexus 7 can't that justifies paying that much more...

If you are already apart of the apple system. (iphone, Macbook) then the Ipad makes sense...

But I love my Nexus 7, it charges quickly. The screen looks great. Plenty of apps to choose from.

My wife had the Kindle Fire HD but she didn't like it and would always end up using my tab for browsing so she just got tired of it and got her a Nexus 7 too..

Owns an iPhone and an iPad 2 but I favor the Nexus 10 all day.

The best tablet is honestly the Lenovo Yoga Tab, but its a full windows 8 tablet/laptop hybrid. This and my mobile phone is really all i need for my mobile computing needs.

The ipad is the best pure tablet on the market, but its limited in its productivity.

The surface RT is an excellent tablet, especially if you can take advantage of the recent markdowns. However, be forwarned that Windows RT still has a way to go in terms of apps. I probably wouldn't recommend spending over $300 for a Surface RT. The Surface Pro however is an excellent device at any price.

The Nexus 7 is pretty nice but it and everything else can't fukk with the IPad.

I have the 7 and wifey has the mini. Mini is superior especially sound quality and camera. I'm always using hers instead of mine.
