primarily polytheism or the belief in multiple gods/spirits. you'll find that most civilisations practiced that at one point. It was because of Judaism/Christianity/Islam that the idea of monotheism spread.

I find polytheism interesting the way gives human qualities to the most interesting things we deal with or rituals we repeat. It's almost like a reflection on humanity the way people figure out qualities of certain gods in polytheism

@Trent

"Most spiritual systems practised by Africans, whether native or mainstream, are organized religions. The rituals of Voodoo, Orisha, Serer, etc are all highly organized, and without exception, function in communal setting. They all have degrees of a priest class, ceremony, immolation, libation, religious holidays, creation stories, saints, divine systems of punishment and reward.
The key difference is most native or traditional faiths are usually ethno-specific and generally lack a written tradition, and a prophet. (Awolalu) They also are less proselytizing compared to Islam and Christianity.[1] Beyond this even Indigenous beliefs systems share elements in common with each other, as well as with the Abrahamicfaiths and other indigenous belief systems around the world.

African spirituality is the spirituality of African people, independent of the naming systems given to the cultures/rituals of those spiritual beliefs. African spirituality lives and is applied within of Islam (e.g. Tijāniyyah), Judaism (e.g. Hebrew Israelite), Christianity (e.g. Tewahedo) as much as it does inside of Vodon, or Odinani.
Outside of the Abrahamic faiths, and perhaps faiths found in the Diaspora, many African religions are inseparable from the ethnic identity and culture. So the religion of the Serer is historically part of Serer identity, the religion of the Masaai is part of Masaai cultural identity.

One erroneous idea is that all Africans had one "pagan" religion at some point in time. There is no " original" religion for an entire continent of people, which is static over 60,000 years of African history. Religion all over the world is invariable tied to lifestyle so as people move from nomadic to sedentary, from chiefdoms to city state, from hunters to agriculturist—religion evolved to suit. There is also a profound relationship to culture, and more often than not, cultures are not destroyed by new faiths but modified to accommodate the tenants of the new religion. We see this in Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The greater the cultural agency of the group, the more they Africanize the incoming faiths into their political-cultural domain.

I remember that Phil Valentine video that had spread in some circles of him saying, Barack Obama was Malcolm X son shortly after he was in HC2 lol. And in his old lectures, he use to teach that the penis was a elongated clitoris. And all humans use to be women. Ay if you into the new age spirituality information you should checkout Dr. Delbert Blaire, and Dr. York. I love seeing people watch a couple youtube clips of sa neter and act like they know a lot about history, religion, genetics and politics off of youtube videos. While regugiating all the talking points they hear of the house of konsciouness or infinite waters.

Love is the true religion...if there were one because Love is what we all want at the end of the day...unconditional love and acceptance...whatever feels right to you is for you...you don't need a religion for that...but if you wanna know the history on African religions...research Dr. Phil Valentine...

Yeah...I've heard of those 2 before...I actually had missed a callback from Delbert Blair back when he was alive and had a radio show...not too far fetched with Phil seein' as how we've all re-incarnated many times before sometimes re-incarnating as the opposite gender as before...so we've all had opportunities to re-incarnate as a man or a woman on the wheel of re-incarnation...but one doesn't have to keep re-incarnating if they can activate their Merkaba...

I'm lost.

Were we Muslims before they took our ancestors from home? I'm genuinely curious and I need to find Faith.

@Poitier
@that mod breh who's book smart in African studies.

Well Haitians kept in touch with our true West African religion of Voudun. It's why we were able to kill all the cacs because our lwa of war Ogun told us too.
If we had been on that white Jesus train like black Americans, and the forgive thy master type bullshyt we probably would've been slaves for a lot longer.

There was a story that had been passed down in our family that our African ancestors were already Christian by the time that they arrived here. Research conducted by various members of my family found that we descend from a very old colonial family that was started by a black indenture. We found out that the black indenture was originally from the Kongo Kingdom as were many of the older black American families. The Kongo Kingdom had been Christianized since the 1400's when Portuguese missionaries started traveling to the Kingdom to convert the natives.

I just don't like how some people shun those who communicate directly with the source.
