What is the difference between brownskin & darkskin?

I used to just call myself darkskin, but in the last 2 years or so I've been seeing this "brownskin" term all over social media, and my skin is brown Is this a new legitimate term, or is it just insecure bytches that hate being called darkskin

You're still brown. Just a dark brown. It's weird that black people calls themselves black when I have seen no so-called black person's skin be the same color as their hair.

So don't worry. You're not insecure. You just paid attention to the lesson on colors in elementary school.

Brown to me is not explicitly light or dark skinned, some brown people are closer to being dark some are closer to being light but still not dark or light enough to be clearly either one

You prolly the same color as me. Non black folks would call you dark skin. Black people never refer to me as dark skin though always called brown

When I hear "brown skin", I think of someone with Nia Long's skin tone (at least in this pic). I'd probably consider Meagan Good "caramel".

Dark skin is dark brown or darker, brown skin is regular brown, then u have caramel or light brown then lightskin simple
