Do you think Monique should a got paid more than katt or Mike Epps? Cuz I know neither one of them got that 10 mill. Amy Schumer is bigger than Dane cook was in his prime and that man was selling out arenas I'm not say amys a better comedian than any of them just a better draw. I'm pretty sure they have numbers to back why they pay certain people what they pay them. I'm pretty sure kap ain't out here saying he want Top 5 qb money .

You're totally not getting it.

Monique = mixtape rapper

Amy Schumer = Drake

You wouldn't book Drake to perform in a hole in the wall club and you wouldn't book a mixtape rapper to perform in an arena. Even if the mixtape rapper thinks that they do the same thing. How does her Oscar for a drama performance equate to stand up comedy?

Do white men or women like Monique?

Netflix trying to make money breh.. If monique couldn't draw a white audience, Netflix wasn't gonna splurge..

Its not hard to understand..

And the one with an Oscar has done nothing of note since winning it.

If that's all they needed, wouldn't Monique be selling out arenas then?

Bunch of cats get talked about in movie trailers as "Oscar Winner X" doesn't mean they're getting paid top dollar to be in that shyt.

Adrien Brody, Jennifer Connelly, and Chris Cooper ain't getting top dollar for movies.

The show they used for Amy's special was part of her world wide tour where she was selling out arenas. She was the first woman comic to sell out MSG. In the 2-3 years before the Netflix special she had a popular show on Comedy Central, a best selling book, starred in a movie that made $150M, she was everywhere. She's trash, but she was popular as fukk. That's why she got paid.

Cats keep pointing to an Oscar win for a depressing ass movie from 10 years ago as to why she should get top dollar for a comedy special on Netflix..

And its its nothing personal.. Once people understand business and how it operates, it will make sense

"Academy Award winning actress, talk show host and comedienne returns to stage to xxxxxxxxxxxx"

That's all they gotta do, they've done more with less. Netflix has dropped the ball plenty of times. If they fronted her and paid her more than she was worth and didnt get the streams afterward, it wouldnt hurt them. But I understand, in business....sometimes you have to be ultra conservative and meticulously protect your brand.

It's not really that..

Its all a gamble, whether what you invest in would profit or not..

Netflix didn't want to gamble on Monique, even considering her Oscar..

Thats it, thats all..

I wholeheartedly agree with you.

Why would they have to charge it to the game?

Is it impossible for her to actually have a good special? Some of y'all don't sound like yall want her to fail but more like y'all truly believe she cant be successful.

Maybe I'm optimistic, she's been on sitcoms and doing movies for 20+ years. Been nominated and recognized for her comedy roles on tv, as well as her non comedy roles on tv and in movies.

I've seen Hollywood squeeze blood from a penny many many many times and of all the times I, we, have been duped to tune in or venture out or hyped up to see something that ended up being some bullshyt, I actually believe Monique can succeed. Whether she can get a team of writers, or put on a show great enough that her co-workers in the industry are like "you gotta see this!" Or whatever. I think she's more than capable. In fact, I know she can. She already has, before she took her dramatic roles and showed she was more than a fat loud black woman I was like :yeshrug:.

Let Amy Schumer and Melissa McCarthy get that paper though.

Movies and tv shows
I wonder how much Deon Cole for his two Netflix specials... cause he did 2 in two years... Monique could have done just this. And I’m willing to think they offered Deon prolly what they were giving Mo but he obviously took it.

Accolades don't mean shyt. How are you relating an Oscar to a stand up comedy special? Did Monique's ticket sales for comedy shows jump drastically after she won it? Did they jump high enough for her to sell out MSG? No. So her and someone who actually sold out MSG doing comedy should not and will not get the same amount of money. Nobody cares whether or not they see a Monique comedy special because she's not a draw.

You can still play professional football outside of the NFL....of course it’s much lower pay and less fanfare, but....how do we figure Kaep “doesn’t have options”?
It's a dumb move. Go from Microsoft to McDonald's bad

Lies. That's why when you see commercials for tv shows and movies they say "Emmy award winning..." "academy award nominated...." "Critics choice......" On and on and on and on and on.

I dont even watch commercials and I still see it every time a network pitches their show or a movie is coming into theaters.

Accolades mean everything. Especially in Hollywood. You cannot watch tv or movies whether local or streaming and say they dont matter. That's literally one of the first few hooks they get you with whether it's writer, director, producer, actor....

You cannot even scroll through descriptions of shows on Netflix or Hulu without them mentioning what awards or award winning contributors are there.

I don't want to continue to have this discussion. I'm starting to question whether people actually watch tv or have these services.

You put up a movie. We're talking about stand up comedy specials based on real life numbers. You talking about commercials on a commercial free streaming service.

You don't understand because you don't want to understand. It's been laid out multiple times in this thread why she's in the wrong. You're either Monique, her husband,or a family member to still be arguing it.

Goatganda the pearl of Africa
nfl contracts aren’t guaranteed and 49ers would have waived kaep

Im sayin....Kaepernick opted out...OPTED OUT...of his contract in hopes of another team picking him up and no other team picked him up....and they’re not obligated to either.

Why don’t we say “well he can just play in the CFL like others have done when they didn’t get picked up but could still play”.

How is that different from the “well MoNique can just do her comedy w/out Netflix” sentiment?

I don’t get why the thread is obsessed w/ Amy Schumer...
