Social darwinism seeks to apply Darwin's theory of natural selection and survival of the fittest to sociology and politics. Basically, the rich should see their power increase while the poor should drop like flies because of their being less adapted. Promote strength, punish weakness and let the less fortunate wash out. The law of the jungle among humans. And this is just the individualist type of social Darwinism, the lesser evil.

The REALLY nasty one, Reform Darwinism, was one of the pillars of nazism: state imposed eugenics. Basically the mass extermination of those viewed as the weak, thus killing off lesser races (like jewish) as well as any disabled or sick people for being defective humans, and redirecting human breeding towards the formation of the master race (arians).

Social darwinism has also been linked to european imperialism, because the concepts of evolution justified the exploitation of "lesser breeds without the law" (africans, asians, native americans) by "superior races" (europeans).
