Beyond being racist, firearms forums can be a little scary. For some reason I'm really interested in the tea party/sovereign citizen/militia types and there is no shortage of racist tendencies within those groups. Beyond just picking news stories that show black folks in a negative light, they get all hot and bothered thinking about ways to kill black criminals and black people in general. No exaggeration, these guys want another incident like the LA riots or Katrina to pop off so they have an excuse to shoot people.
On a site for California gun owners they did a poll on the Civil War. First off these guys are really good at avoiding the established and widely accepted fact that although complicated, slavery was a primary component in "The War of Northern Aggression"
. Anyways poll revealed that 2 out of 3 would've fought for the Confederacy. I know it shouldn't be surprising but that shyt is just so far from my way of thinking that I was amazed. Folks would actually still fight to keep black people in slavery. Shocking.
Anyways I was actually thinking about doing a HL post/series on racism in the firearms community. Very creepy stuff.
comparing racism to name calling. especially a word like cac that means little and holds no historical significance.
