If anything the mods here are very lax. But consensus means something here, most posters don't want an entire forum full of nothing but conspiracy theories, trolling, and hate threads. Just letting everybody get away with everything will degrade the quality of the forum. If you want to post 10 threads everyday about the illuminati or some shyt, take that somewhere else please.

shyt i remember years ago i started a new job at a hotel and struck up a convo with some chick before my morning shift. just making small talk while we were eating. somehow we started talking about bagels and i asked her if she ever had a certain brand called "lender's bagels" and she got all weird about it. later that day, the manager came to me and said there was complaints about me being anti-semetic...and mind you, my manager is arabic...but the gm was a jew.

the convo went like this:
me - "so umm...wtf about you talking about"
him -"she's jewish and you were talking about bagels...lender's bagels"
me - "yeah and? i didn't know she was jewish and even if i did, so what, bagel's are off-limits now?"
him -"the thing is...apparently lender is a derogatory term for jewish people"
me - lender? are you kidding me? i never heard of that...and i wasn't calling her a lender anyways"

him - "i didn't know either but i can't have her making complaints like this, so just choose your words carefully next time...you know how it is"
me -

this shyt has me laughing. She must be a poster here. and the Arab must be one of the mods.

I never said that people consistently complain about any one poster, I mean people get frustrated by posters of their ilk (outside of the norm) period. I was putting that entire group into one pot from PMs to reported posts to complaints in threads and @ others mods who don't even mod the forum, etc. People just get frustrated and with charged issues like these, that probably comes with the territory.

We all have differing viewpoints. My issues are with members who are unwillingly to cordially agree to disagree. Resorting to ad homenims instead (i.e "You're a c00n/agent/etc"). Along with those who constantly go into threads spewing conspiracy theories or race based arguments which have NOTHING to do with the topic at hand.

For instance, someone'll start a thread in TRL about hair care products. Then one of these knuckleheads'll jump in rambling on about brothers and sisters wanting to be like white people. Then all hell breaks loose.

Or someone'll make a thread in the Coliseum about a sports team or player. And again, someone decides to derail the thread with disjointed commentary about black athletes being "paid slaves".

There's a time and a place for everything. But most of us ain't tryna hear all that while discussing the NFL season, or cars, or the best shoes to go with a suit, or a particular movie.

Mods: It needs to be addressed.


When I first got here on the coli like many others it was because I was not satisfied( mainly tired) of Sohh and it's restrictions on what topics are discussed and who can do what in different forums based off certain cliques. Also because the trolls were ran-sacking all the threads with non-sense. Well it seems that the problems of sohh have followed here. In the HL, especially I've noticed good topics, debate threads being destroyed by trolls. The irrelevant threads like race-baiting, religious-baiting threads would be the norm and critical thinking seems to be outlawed. I find it ironic that republicans/democrats can speak on their topics, atheists can speak on their topics but those who don't fit that bubble who create critical thinking threads( alot of good posters too) have their views banned/threads deleted or pushed into other forums.

Personally it's not my business to enter a thread I'm not interested in and rate it because I don't like the poster. I don't think it's the mods job to delete critical thinking threads because the mod has a personal opinion about the subject. Right here shows the power-trips on the mods end to do something about the thread, even though the thread was put within the contents of the rules. Not every mod does that...just addressing the issue. This place has only been up a year and it's getting out of control.
