Thread is literally a recycled & rephrased topic of his previous threads. If he isn't trolling, he needs to stop using TLR as his only source of info.

:yeshrug: You could just read through the big-ass IT thread in the 6 certs 6 figs subforum, read the various IT-related subreddits, read the techexams forums, watch IT-related YouTube channels, read CBT Nuggets' blog. & etc. There's a lot more info out there instead of making the same thread over & over in TLR.

Do you read what you type before you click send? Why would i go through a OVER 500 page long thread with disorganized and scattered information while i can specifically ask the questions i need the answer to now? and i dont post the exact threads at all. I do use outside sources outside of the coli tho, besides reddit. why u even recommending that site, ill never know:dahell:

I've been in IT since the early 2000s in the DC area. If we're talking about non-management workers.

I know a few Oracle developers getting 150k back in 2009, they probably can get close to 200k now with a generous small Govt Contractor

Database Developers seem to get the most. Some engineers too, but the "engineers" is funny. I know a few Linux Systems Admins with Top Secret clearances and Full Scope Poly, working shift work

I'd say the real ceiling is around 130k, unless you really a guru in the building and implementation of Linux Network or Some system. But most System Admin who edit and maintain systems that are already in place aren't usually seeing over 120k, in my experience. There's always exceptations.

If you're part of the planning, discussion and building up a new system, you can get a lot. But it's hell. A lot of meetings and explaining. But it's usually plan that have build systems before.

Never heard much about degrees amongst people making 100k. A few certs are popular, but degrees seem more for management and technical writers.

1. Without a degree.
2. With a associate
3. With a bachelors
Your salary can go pretty high if you go the management route. Either way, degree or no degree, you have to build up your experience. Without a degree, that takes longer. But you can get the technical acumen. Once you get to a senior level, you have an option to stay in a technical route or you can move to a managerial route.
The technical route is when you want to stay 'hands on' in developing actual code. The managerial route takes you away from being 'hands on' and you start being a manager. The higher you go in the managerial route, the farther you get away from keeping up your technical skills.
The technical route salary grows with seniority and you can earn in the 6 figures.
The managerial route salary grows with seniority, but can expand if you get promoted into an executive position, or if the company does well and your position can earn bonuses. You can earn in the 6 figures in the beginning and advance to 7 figures in a big company. If you venture off in your own company, your ceiling can go 8 to 9 figures if you sell your company.
In 1996, Sabeer Bhatia sold Hotmail to Microsoft for $400 milly, so if you want to count it, that's $400,000,000 or 9 figures. :ooh:
