Is it a situation where the best MLS players are worse than the worst EPL or La Liga players? Why would someone good enough to play in those leagues stay in MLS? Are they worse than national leagues such as the ones in South American countries like Brazil and Argentina?

I'm just trying to get a feel for the level of skill we are watching. Is this basically the G League of soccer?

G-League ain't bad. In my travels, I've seen quite a few nice ass ballers get washed by G-League nikkas, and I'm not even talking about the best G-League nikkas.

In fact, people would be surprised at how difficult it is to make a G-League team.

For it to be "G-League", there has to be an "NBA" that is hogging up 95% of all the talent that exists in the world. That league does not exist.

MLS also looks a little worse than some of those other leagues because this is America and Americans can't seem to enjoy their sports leagues without forced parity so you don't get a situation like say, Celtic beating the brakes off of helpless competition year after year.

It would probably be whatever a middling European national basketball league is. Pick one.

2nd best league in North America. :troll:

Jokes aside it's grown leaps and bounds from where it was 10 years ago. MLS still can't win Concacaf Champions League which it needs to start doing on the regular. Until that happens can't really see how good the top teams in MLS are against other leagues top teams The influx of young Latin American talent that has been coming into the league has made it more fun to watch. If anything MLS can inspire to be like The Eredivisie (Dutch League) or Ligue 1 (French League) which brings in young talent to develop and eventually sell these players to the bigger leagues.

In some ways it's like what those Chinese Leagues are to the NBA.

The same way those Chinese league pay big money to :flabbynsick: former nba stars like marbury and steve francis is how the MLS keeps spending money on washed former world class players like andrea pirlo.

mix that with mediocre american players who get PT and sometimes even big contracts just because they're american you wind up with a pretty
:russell: league.

sebastian giovinco was an above average player globally and completely dominated MLS.

MLS can't even dominate Liga MX in CONCACAF champions league and Liga MX is a pretty meh league as well.
