It might sound stupid but how can it expand it anything?

This is a bit difficult to explain. But the expansion is really an element of spacetime. Astrophysicists and cosmologists observe different portions of 3d space in 4d spacetime. Each observation is different and larger than the last observation.

The universe isn't expanding into anything rather our observations are taken at different scales of the universe. The 'scales' are the galaxies drifting further apart but that doesn't mean the universe is expanding into anything as the very definition of the universe is everything comprised in it.

:whoo:

That was a bar at the end.

I like what she's saying-- the truth is that we don't know, but from what we can see... well, we can't see a lot. But, from what we do see, she's on the money.

That's the thing I like about science. It's an ever expanding library of knowledge that is never complete. Some things we may never know for sure, but I want to know as much as I can before I leave, you know?

Well they say expanding but from what I understand everything is spreading out. I don't think anybody really knows what's going on bc it takes so long. It'll be multiple lifetimes before we notice a difference

Question, if the universe is expanding are we as well? I guess my question is, are we getting further away from let's say Saturn? If not, why?
