Interesting that people are just now catching on this this. I have a pretty interesting take on this seeing as I've seen it happen in my own country.

This thing of iG models going to Lagos/Accra/Abuja/Cape Town etc really started taking off like 3-4 years ago (at least in Lagos), from my observations. They really come out in droves during Christmas especially.

Christmas period is a season of "plenty". A lot of Nigerians from overseas (London, Houston, ATL, DC etc) return home for the holiday period. That 2-3 week period from Dec 15th - Jan 5th is usually filled with a lot of end of the year parties and people ball out hard. It's such a money grab during that time. It's not even necessarily politicians, but club owners, party promoters, musicians, industry players and business men that take part. There's a network where these models get connected with the people on ground in Nigeria.

I remember on my flight to Lagos a few years back seeing some "iG model" types that have absolutely no business being in Nigeria. Before take off on the flight I was on twitter and at the time there was a trending topic around how all these iG models were putting "Lagos, Nigeria" as their location. Anyone that has been to Nigeria knows that place isn't really a place for tourists. You don't just go to Nigeria unless you have a reason to be there. That was when I really peeped game.

A lot it is masqueraded as party hosting and such. It's all economics. The US is stiff for competition. That "iG model" look is a dime a dozen over here. Every day another iG model comes into the fray. There's a short window of opportunity.

However, that iG Model look (especially the mixed looking chicks) isn't so common in Nigeria, Ghana etc. So there's increased demand and such. Also, you got the party promoters in ATL and Houston that have connections to Lagos and such.

Boom! Nigeria becomes a new silk road.
