Generally if the car is out of warrenty I recommend finding an independent shop that specializes in the make you have. These days with the internet and reviews its harder to be a shady mechanic. Find someone who is well reviewed.I had one mechanic tell me that he’s surprised that I could still drive my car with how bad it looked to him when I got an oil change. The second mechanic I went to said my car was in great condition
I guess I’ve been lucky cause the last couple mechanics I went to was very nice and would fix the problem that I wanted fixed. I have a newer car now and go to the actual dealership which is a way better experience even though it may cost more.
