I’m just gonna guess it’s a perpetual state of them undermining your authority at every turn.
“Omg Brent , Don’t get me wrong, TNOT is super good at his job and he’s taught me sooooo much.... like so much. Buuuut, I really don’t think he knows what’s best for my career, like I totally understand he’s in charge, a really smart guy, but I think he expects too much of me and I’m just starting out. I don’t want to crash and burn, you know”

Couldn't pay me enough do that.

Might as well just go to hr and report yourself for sexual harassment and get it over with your first day on the job.

I'm in a high enough position now, where i don't really feel that pressure for myself personally. But i have to lookout for people underneath me. but i had to check one of my employee's a few months back. Our IT guy was in the office and she started touching his hair. I was like :snoop: , but didn't say anything at the time. Figured he'd handle it himself. But he just smiled and went along with it.
Later on he comes into my office like :mjpls: you see that woman touch my hair? I was like yeah:scusthov: i'll talk to her about it. Told her in a non aggressive way. hey it's not cool to touch peoples hair in the office. Her response?: I would've touched your hair instead but you keep it so short all the time.:gucci:

This is the first time I've heard of the term "covering" like it's being described and I don't think I like it

the terminology is new but the idea/concept seems old if I’m reading it correctly...for example “code switching” seems like one aspect of “covering” if I’m interpreting it correctly

Your probably right. I guess what troubles me is that he is accommodating peoples prejudice. Like he said something along the lines of "well she probably comes from a small town where there aren't many black people so taking orders from one must be difficult". That irked me because a change needs to be made in her and not him

ya I think he said he wanted/needed to stop doing that bcuz in some cases those biases probably didn’t even exist and he just assumed they were there
