I'm in a high enough position now, where i don't really feel that pressure for myself personally. But i have to lookout for people underneath me. but i had to check one of my employee's a few months back. Our IT guy was in the office and she started touching his hair. I was like , but didn't say anything at the time. Figured he'd handle it himself. But he just smiled and went along with it.
Later on he comes into my office like you see that woman touch my hair? I was like yeah i'll talk to her about it. Told her in a non aggressive way. hey it's not cool to touch peoples hair in the office. Her response?: I would've touched your hair instead but you keep it so short all the time.

Working with mostly women isn't all its cracked up to be breh. Yeah you can smash a few, but the second shyt gets awkward and things go south, that work situation will be insufferable.

This is the first time I've heard of the term "covering" like it's being described and I don't think I like it

the terminology is new but the idea/concept seems old if I’m reading it correctly...for example “code switching” seems like one aspect of “covering” if I’m interpreting it correctly

Your probably right. I guess what troubles me is that he is accommodating peoples prejudice. Like he said something along the lines of "well she probably comes from a small town where there aren't many black people so taking orders from one must be difficult". That irked me because a change needs to be made in her and not him

ya I think he said he wanted/needed to stop doing that bcuz in some cases those biases probably didn’t even exist and he just assumed they were there
